What is the ACA Express Engine?

We’ve used it for four years now. It’s great because it makes everything fast and easy. Not only is it fast, but it also lets you add the carriers with which you’re appointed. Even though there are not many carriers left in the market, at least you can have your carriers in the ACA Express Engine so you may enroll your clients without leaving the engine. Then, when you’re done with the app, you can export all your client information – what plans they were on, the subsidy amounts, etc. In addition to client information, you will also be able to track your commissions and make sure that each carrier site is showing your information.

As a health insurance broker, the ACA Express is needed this year more than ever before because this year’s open enrollment is significantly shorter than the previous years. Before, agents used to have three months or longer to enroll their clients; now, agents only have forty-five days, minus the black-out period for Thanksgiving, for the enrollment period. That’s why all agents selling ACA plans this year need to get organized with the ACA Express Engine.

Once agents fill out the request form, Jeff Hess will verify that the agent is certified on CMS. Then, he will confirm the agent is contracted with ACA carriers through Empower Brokerage. If the agent wants to add another carrier to the engine, there are certain stipulations, and in some cases, there will be added costs for the agent. After the agent meets the initial requirements, the process for adding them to the ACA Express Engine takes as little as five minutes. With the engine, you’ll be ready to rock and roll when November 1st comes around. Unfortunately, we will not know the rates of the carriers until the government and carriers reach a decision.
